Mariyah Hawkins was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She began dancing at the
age of 2 and grew into competitive dance at the age of 7. Via her studio training, Mariyah
received knowledge in various genres, both classical and commercial. At 16, Mariyah became
independent in her dance training. She would later explore her movement via a wide array of
artistic exposure and self discovery. Mariyah attributes her artistic voice to the various
instructors she’s been privileged to learn from over the years. She is grateful to those who took
part in her journey to a more dynamic and vast understanding of movement. Mariyah appreciates
the ability to convey human emotion and human experience via movement. Mariyah hopes to
connect with artists of all mediums to cultivate opportunities to exchange and create. Mariyah
loves to take part in conversation about what her art and personal style of movement means to
her, as well as hear others speak about what movement means to them, and how it may benefit
them outside of spaces ordained for dance. Mariyah hopes to dance as long as her body allows.
She is grateful to pour her heart into all that she does whilst she navigates her ever-evolving
artistic pathway.
